授業の目的、または到達目標 Students will be able to better understand cultural differences and issues involved in communication across cultures. By examining various cultures and communication styles, students will also gain a deeper understanding of their own culture. By understanding different values and viewpoints, students will develop greater communication skills and intercultural sensitivity. Students will be better prepared for intercultural communication when they meet people from other cultures in the future.
授業の概要 Students will learn about the field of intercultural communication by studying and discussing the textbook and its activity book. Students will also occasionally research a country and play the role of its people. There will be regular quizzes to check understanding, and a final presentation. Active class participation is most important to achieve the course goals.

授業の形態 Introductory lectures, textbook exercises, quizzes, group discussions and sharing in English, role plays, and presentations.

準備学習 Students are expected to be prepared for class discussions and quizzes by studying the textbook and its activity book. Students will also give a short presentation on some aspect of intercultural communication at the end of the semester.

成績評価方法・基準 Class participation: 50%; Quizzes: 30%; Final Presentation: 20%.
