授業の目的、または到達目標 Students will be able to understand the meaning of culture and issues involved in communication across cultures. By examining different cultures and communication styles, students will also gain a deeper understanding of their own cultural values.
授業の概要 Students will be better prepared for cross-cultural or intercultural communication by reading and discussing a textbook that compares Asian and Western ways of thinking. Each student will also research a different country and play the role of its people. Students will be able to understand various environments and values, and represent different viewpoints. In such ways, students will develop greater communication skills and intercultural sensitivity.

準備学習 Students are expected to be prepared to discuss readings in class. Homework on the readings is due at the beginning of class. Students will give a short presentation on their perspectives of cross-cultural communication at the end of the class.

成績評価方法・基準 Class participation: 50%; Quizzes: 30%; Final Presentation: 20%.
