Goal: To identify and apply various communication strategies while improving their listening and speaking skills. -Students will be able to explain the relationships between communication strategies and communicative competence and between communication strategies and learning strategies. -Students can apply commonly used strategies for communication problem solving (for example: paraphrasing, borrowing from the first language, miming, asking for help, avoiding). -Students can express themselves appropriately in discussion, writing and oral presentations. |
授業の概要 |
This course will focus on how to use communication strategies to be better communicators in English. The major types of communication strategies will be introduced and practiced. Students will engage in discussions, presentations and writing about many varied topics. Throughout the course, students will dig deeper into select topics by creating projects based on these topic areas. |
