授業の目的、または到達目標	"To explore the foundations of English literature through examining the major periods in the development of the English language, doing extensive reading and participating in discussions. Learning Goals: can articulate the history of English literature, main works, and authors can read English literature extensively at their level *can explain and discuss readings in English literature
授業の概要	This course will explore the history, geography and genre of English literature. The course will provide an overview of English literature from Beowulf to Berry (Wendell). During the course, students will read samples of English from all stages of its development, including Old English (Beowulf), Middle English (Chaucer), Early Modern (Shakespeare), and Modern literary works. While exploring central themes, students will follow their own path through central works and authors.
