describe the major features of the English sound system of one dialect of English
produce all the sounds of English intelligibly
授業の概要 Together we will study the field of general phonetics and explore how it is connected with the actual speaking of a second language. The main features of the English sound system will be covered in depth including both segmental and suprasegmental aspects. Major issues related to the speaking and pronunciation of English will be covered and discussed. Practical activities will be performed and discussed in order to improve the student’s own English speaking ability.

準備学習 Students will be expected to read, practice their English and write in preparation for classes. For every hour in class, students are expected to prepare for at least two hours outside of class.
