授業の目的、または到達目標 Objectives:To understand the role media play in and the impact of marketing on modern society
Learning goals:
can explain the role of symbols, genre, representation, narrative structure in media
can explain the relationship between media texts, media producers, and media audiences
can understand the relationship between media and marketing
can understand the influence media have on our lives, particularly our purchasing habits
can create original media marketing campaigns in at least one medium
授業の概要 This course will examine the role of media and its intersection with marketing in modern society. The course will examine the global media environment with the aim of becoming critical consumers of media and able to employ appropriate media skills to marketing. The course broadly defines media as including oral, print, photographic, broadcast, cinematic, and digital forms.

Preparation for class is required. Readings and papers must be done before class.

To understand the media and the role of media in society, students must do the assigned readings before class and prepare for discussions each week. Readings and homework must be completed before class. Through lectures, discussions, readings, worksheets, storytelling, research papers, and presentations, students will come to understand the role of media, their characteristics, and the impact of media on our global society.
教科書 Readings will be provided (online and eBook). Students MUST bring their iPads to class.

成績評価方法・基準 Reflection & response papers: 30% Five (5) during the course
Group research & presentation: 20% Media & marketing project
Description and summary of project research: 10%
Activities & quizzes: 40% Quizzes will be on readings, activities, and discussions
