授業の目的、または到達目標 The objectives of this course will be to learn foreign policy analysis, esp., so-called power-image approach based on postwar Canadian foreign policy experiences. This approach posits Canada’s foreign policy behaviors and outcomes as those of a small, middle, principal power, and is very useful in explaining foreign policy conflicts.
外交政策論についての基本的知識とその応用を習得する。特にカナダを中心に発展してきたパワー・イメージ・アプローチを詳細に吟味して、その事例研究への適用を理解する。定性的分析による国際紛争とその結果について考察を深めたい。
授業の概要 After learning basic international relations concepts such as anarchy,political system, limitations of international laws, we will learn some approaches of foreign international policy analysis. Especially targeted is power-image approach deriving from Canadian foreign policy literature. We will examine the 2003 Iraq War and its aftermaths using this approach, and other Canadian foregin policy case studies.
国際関係理論において、最初は現実主義などの基礎的理論や争点の理解を深め、新現実主義を組み込んだパワー・イメージ・アプローチをイラク戦争への対応外交などに適用させてみる。その際に、カナダ、日本、アメリカなどの主要国の対応を見てみたい。また、その他の主な事例研究としては戦後のカナダ外交政策を取り上げる。
