To examine the causes of conflict in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and understand how this influences American foreign policy. Learning goals: * can understand the cause of conflict in the Middle East * can understand how this conflict influences U.S. foreign policy * can discuss these issues in class * can give presentations in class about these issues * can write a paper about these issues |
| 授業の概要 |
This course will examine the causes of wars in the Middle East and their relationship to the conflict between Israel and Palestinians. The effect of this conflict on the involvement of America and other nations in wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen, among other areas, will be considered. Attention will be given to the role that the events of 9/11 played in the justification for war. The media's role in the U.S. and international coverage of these conflicts will also be considered. |
