授業の目的、または到達目標 Introduce some of the important approaches of Comparative Politics and show how to apply them to concrete case studies. 比較政治学における主要なアプローチのいくつかを紹介し、それを具体的にどのように用いるかを議論する。
授業の概要 One of the key issues of the political life is “prisoner’s dilemma” or “free rider” problem, which hinders the achievement of common goals. Comparative Politics has always tackled these fundamental problems so far. We will study some of the important approaches to “solve” these difficulties.政治学にとって主要な課題の一つは共同体（組織）の成員が共通目標については合意しながらも、その達成のための貢献という点では、大きな困難を抱えているため、結果的には少数者の個別利益が卓越し、成員の多数派の利益が損なわれる（「集合行為のジレンマ」）という困難をいかに克服するかにある。特に比較政治学はこの課題への理論的・実践的克服の努力の軌跡といってもよい。たとえば途上国ではなぜ、民主主義が制度的には実現されながら、なぜ国民の大多数は貧困にあえいでいるか、本講義は、こうした課題に取り組むための重要なアプローチを紹介し、その適応を事例研究で試みる。
