This is a course for learning practical sides of actual interpreting scenes. Learning goals: Can understand what is the 'good interpreting service' Can realize the level of language proficiency, knowledge and communication skills required of a good interpreter. Can interpret speeches consecutively from English to Japanese, and from Japanese to English Can interpret simple speeches simultaneously from E to J, with a speech text |
| 授業の概要 |
While finding out the gap between the required level and their own level， various styles of training methods will be used to fill the gap; shadowing， retention， logical analysis， paraphrasing， speed reading and sight translation. For a certain subject matter of an interpreting job (for example， a marketing meeting of a manufacturer)， students will learn how to research， prepare and practice for the job. Concurrently， students will try to improve their language proficiencies in Japanese and English. The course will include a field trip to a conference where professional interpreters are working. |
