授業の目的、または到達目標 Can understand and discuss the causes and effects of major environmental issues.
Can understand and discuss ideas and solutions for building a sustainable future.
授業の概要 This course will consider topics related to the environment such as global warming, sustainability, and green economics, among others, and consider how these topics relate to us individually. Some of the questions the course will address include: What environmental issues face us today? What is being done about them? What would it be like to live in a sustainable society? Readings from a number of genres will provide a framework for the exploration of these topics.

準備学習 Students are required to read assigned texts every week before each class and prepare for discussions and presentations in class. It is essential that each student participate in class discussion so that the topics are fully understood.
Quizzes on reading assignments will be given regularly.
Writing assignments include two 'response & reflection' papers as well as one 'summary of her own group research presentation' with a reference page. If these are not turned in by the end of make-up exam period, the student cannot pass the course. For those who are repeating the Fall course, a research paper is required. The details on these papers will be provided on the first day of class.
