授業の目的、または到達目標 Islam is, no doubt, one of the key terms to comprehend the modern world. In this class, participants are required to study not simply general aspects of Islam, but some specific aspects so that they can obtain its basic knowledge to cope with the issues in the globalized society.
現代社会を読み解くキーワードの一つがイスラームである。イスラームに関する一般的な知識とともに、やや特殊な問題を学ぶことによって、国際人としての素養を身につける。
授業の概要 The basic methodology of this class is that of comparison. In the process, we will make comparative use of various documents concerning Islam written by Muslim, European, American, and Japanese writers. By so doing, we can obtain a balanced knowledge of Islam, such as, its basic doctrine, history, its issues in modern world, etc. The emphasis will be put on modern period since the early 19th centuryイスラームに関する基本的な知識を提供する際、比較の手法を用いる。イスラームに関する一般啓蒙書とともに、できる限りイスラーム教徒自身が書いた著作の翻訳を通じて学ぶ。さらに、西洋人や日本人が見たイスラームについて学ぶ。その結果、イスラームの概要、基本的特徴、抱える問題点を他の文明との比較の上で明確に浮き出させる。基本的な関心は、近代・現代の問題である。
