授業の目的、または到達目標 To learn how to create and administer surveys, and analyze, report and present results.
授業の概要 This course is an introduction to survey design, analysis, and the written and oral presentation of results in social science research. Issues in the design of surveys, the establishment of appropriate methods for analysis, and the ways in which survey research is reported orally and in writing will be examined. Students will use these skills to design and administer their own surveys and analyze and report these results.

準備学習 This course is an introduction to survey design, analysis, and the written and oral presentation of survey results. In addition to designing and administering a survey, students will learn vocabulary pertaining to survey research. Students will be expected to prepare for classes, participate actively in class, design a survey instrument in pairs or small groups, and collect and analyze data. Instrument design, data collection and presentations will be group activities and will require some outside of class time. Reports will be done individually. Although the full report will be a single paper, it will be divided into several parts: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion. Those individual parts will be due at different times during the semester and need to be prepared outside of class.

成績評価方法・基準 20% Homework/participation, 20% Quizzes, 20% Presentation, 40% Written report
