授業の目的、または到達目標 Students will be expected to practice composition, editing, and evaluation of their own and other student’s writing, explore writing styles, from set rhetorical patterns to free writing and research writing, conduct research, and analyze information found from a critical perspective. Students will also be expected to expand on skills covered in Research Methods.
授業の概要 Writing compositions and doing research on various topics using word processing programs, e-mail, web browsers, and other related software.
授業の形態 Lectures, explanations, and hands-on writing practice using multimedia software and hardware.

  • Review word processing manuals

  • Explanation of expository writing and use of e-mail attachments
  • Send e-mail attachment. Choose topic for first essay

  • Examine paragraph in Criterion. Explain Criterion reports.
  • Review reports from Criterion paragraph

  • Review formatting, revision techniques, and word processing techniques. Hand in rough draft.
  • Do free writing summary of an assigned topic.

  • Choose topic and organizational pattern and begin research for Internet Essay. Hand in summary.
  • Prepare to hand in the final draft of the first essay

備考 The computer will be a primary tool used in the composition process, but this is not a class in how to use a computer. Students must have basic skills before enrolling.
