科目名 Topic Studies II - A  Global Issues: Events that Shape Our Society
担当教員 FIELDEN, Mark
授業の目的、または到達目標 To better understand current issues and how they will effect the future in Japan and other nations.
授業の概要 Using recent examples of news events and emerging trends, this course will examine the effect these issues will have on society in the near and distant future. The 2003 Iraq War (and Japan's role as a U.S. ally), global health issues; Japan's aging population and the burden it will place on pension, health care and employment issues, are just some of the topics we will be discussing. Continual policies such as those effecting Japanese education--at all levels--and trends influencing youth and young adults will also be explored.
