授業の目的、または到達目標 To study the meaning of culture and cultural values, the issues involved in communication across cultures, and to deepen understanding of one's own cultural values.
授業の概要 The subject matter will be covered via readings, lectures, and group discussion. Students grades are determined by a combination of in-class participation, reading homework, a final exam and a short presentation on student’s perspectives and experiences towards cross-cultural communication.

授業の形態 Each class revolves around discussions of culture and communication based on the reading homework and examples of cross-cultural scenarios.

準備学習 Students are expected to be prepared to discuss readings in class. Homework on the readings is due at the beginning of class. Students will give a short presentation on their perspectives of cross-cultural communication at the end of the class.
教科書 Richard Nisbett. "Geography of Thought." Free Press. Additional text copies may be distributed in class.
成績評価方法・基準 Participation: 30%  Homework: 20%
Presentation: 25% Final Test: 25%
