授業の目的、または到達目標 To examine speech acts in a variety of contexts and use this knowledgte to improve communication ability
授業の概要 Students will learn about the basic principles of speech communication by preparing and delivering brief speeches; they will be asked to provide peer feedback to their classmates, keep a brief journal of speech topics, and complete brief readings on speaking and communication. Focus will be on organizing and presenting interesting and clear ideas in English, using appropriate language.

授業の形態 The class includes group work, individual and group discussions and presentations, quizzes and a final speech project; other speaking practice activities may be used if needed

準備学習 Some preparation for speeches and discussions will be required; occasional brief readings will be supplied by the instructor. All brief speeches should be practiced at home several times
