授業の目的、または到達目標 To improve students' passive and active vocabulary through reading about communication, education and culture. In addition, students will improve their reading skills, including pre-reading, scanning and understanding text.
授業の概要 This course focuses on learning new vocabulary through reading about communication, education and culture. To increase the learning of new words and to improve reading skills, classes will include reviewing already studied vocabulary words, introducing a new reading, practicing new vocabulary, doing pre-reading activities, answering comprehension questions and using vocacbulary in contexts.

準備学習 Students should spend at least one hour on homework for each hour in class. Preparation should include reading the assigned readings, doing any assigned homework, learning new vocabulary, and reviewing previously learned vocabulary words.

a. Word cards and vocabulary notebooks(may include student

b. Homework from text(includes reading comprehension and summaries) 20%

comprehension checks, and use of selected vocabulary in a discussion
or written work 20%
