授業の目的、または到達目標 After completing this course, students should be able to:
Explain some of the main issues in peace studies and human security;
Present a case study on at least one global issue;
Convey their opinions on possible solutions for that issue.
授業の概要 This course will provide a basic overview of some of the main global issues in peace and human security, such as refugees, poverty, genocide, the right to water and others. In addition to the text, students will be given other (usually internet based) sources that will provide them with alternative perspectives, with the aim of challenging their assumptions and having them understand that the issues are often more complex than is usually presented in mainstream discourse. Students will present a case study of their choice as their term project.
