To write clear, logical, organized, and well developed English paragraphs and essays. Learning goals Can read your own writing and make corrections Can write clear sentences Can write an appropriate topic sentence Can use transitions appropriately Can write appropriate thesis statements Can explain the writing process Can write an organized essay including introduction, body and conclusion Can correctly use citations in an essay Can write a researched-essay with a reference section and appropriate citations |
授業の概要 |
This course is one component of the Integrated Unit curriculum. In it, students will learn how to organize, develop and explain ideas in a style appropriate to English academic writing. They will learn and practice basic steps of the composition process and apply those steps to the writing of paragraphs and essays. Essay topics include peace studies, science and religion, human rights, and crises of life. The writing skills studied are essential for the writing of papers in the second year Theme Studies classes. Additionally, the skills practiced in composition will be useful for any future academic study, or other English writing. |
