科目名 異文化コミュニケーション論

授業の目的、または到達目標 To understand how our own experiences and beliefs shape the way we interact with people, to develop expertise in communicating across cultures, and to gain knowledge of intercultural communication skills. We will examine identity, language, nonverbal codes and other factors that affect communication.
授業の概要 What is culture? How does it influence how we interact with people? Why do people from different backgrounds often misunderstand each other? How can we develop better communication skills? These are a few of the questions that we will discuss in this course. We will examine the field of intercultural communication and begin to develop skills to help us become better intercultural communicators.

授業の形態 This course involves readings, discussions, student presentations and role plays. To understand intercultural communication we all must be actively involved in the classes.

準備学習 Students are expected to come to class prepared to actively participate in discussions. The instructor will be facilitating discussions and will draw on students' ideas to expand the course material.
