授業の目的、または到達目標 To understand how culture shapes how people in different countries make decisions and interact. This course will examine different nations and how their histories, religions and cultures may influence their decisions and interactions. It will also examine key concepts of verbal and nonverbal communication.

授業の概要 After reviewing culture and communication, we will examine cultures in different nations and consider how the people make decisions and interact with people from other countries. Drawing on key concepts of verbal and nonverbal communication as well as knowledge of the nations, we will closely examine cross-cultural communication in some of these areas: North America, South America, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.


授業の形態 This course involves readings, discussions, writing assignments and presentations by students. In order to understand cultures, we all must be actively involved in the classes.

準備学習 Students are expected to come to class prepared to actively participate in discussions. The key word is ACTIVELY. The instructor will be facilitating many discussions and will draw on students’ ideas and experiences to expand on the course material.
