授業の目的、または到達目標 You will be able to pursue your own research topic with the assistance of your supervisor. You will be able to analse and discuss issues of human rights to a very high standard from a comparative angle, and to reduce your analysis and discussion in writing, in the form of dissertation.

授業の概要 The timetable two sections below is simply designed to give you suggestions how a given topic may be pursued: e.g. a study in the development of the equality-of-arms principle under the European Convention on Human Rights and its application under Human Rights Act 1998 of the United Kingdom.

授業の形態 You are asked to choose your own research topic which involves comparison of no less than two countries or regions. This class would be a tailor-made class for each of you. You are asked to report, explain and discuss your research methods. You are asked to report your progress each week. You are asked to submit an extended essay of up to 10,000 words.
