授業の目的、または到達目標 Objectives of the Course: to introduce you to a fast growing market where the world and Japan need able and skilled professionals: intellectual property; to help you choose your profession. If you want to pursue a professional career, either a legally qualified expert on intellectual property (弁理士）or a certified skilled manager of intellectual property （知的財産管理技能士) or both are included in the range of very promising choices for you.
Learning goals are that:
You can explain and identify a variety of types of intellectual property.
You can explain the domestic, regional and international mechanisms of upholding intellectual property.
You can explain the US, Japanese, hopefully EU and international intellectual property laws in English and Japanese.
You know what steps you should take in order to get qualified or certified as a relevant expert in Japan and abroad.
授業の概要 We will explore intellectual property laws of Japan, the USA and relevant international treaties, by reading the textbook together, and where necessary, by providing you with relevant English materials about US and EU laws and international treaties. This will, in turn, give you opportunities for developing necessary vocabulary, knowledge, and ideas in explaining Japanese law in English.
