To be aware of various differences, beyond grammatical structure, between Japanese and English, through translation of various materials including picture books, novels, lyrics, etc. Learning goals： ・can recognize that words and expressions reflect culture, thoughts, background, etc. ・can recognize the context is essential to fully understand what is written/said by words ・can utilize the recognition above for better inter-cultural communication |
| 授業の概要 |
The class includes lectures, practices and discussions. In the lecture, we will start by thinking about what "words" mean and pick up some examples of how words and expressions in one language are rather difficult to be tranalated into another language. |
