*Explain the current tendency of conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
*Develop attitudes to resolve conflict and promote peace.
授業の概要 This course overviews current issues and debates of peace and conflict in the world. It discusses issues in class, such as nuclear disarmament, refugees, conflict and peacebuilding. It also introduces the conceptual foundations of peace and conflict studies from historical, cultural and philosophical viewpoints.

準備学習 Preparation for class is required. To understand the content of this course, students must do the assigned readings before class and prepare for discussions each week. Readings and homework must be completed before class.

成績評価方法・基準 Evaluation: Classwork: 40%
Reading and Writing: 30%
Projects 30%
Project 1: Debate Presentation with Paper (5 pages)
Project 2: Conflict paper (5 pages) and Short Group Presentation
