授業の概要 This course focuses on the creation and production of theatrical texts. Students will use their imaginations and creative abilities to write, rehearse and perform original plays and to perform scenes from well-known plays in English. In addition to creating their own aesthetic texts, students will analyze theatrical texts for the purpose of performance and prepare these through the rehearsals. Students will approach performance as a method of inquiry and discovery. Students will explore the basic aspects of theatrical performance such as creating characters, staging scenes, and understanding and illuminating dramatic action. This class will provide an opportunity for students to realize their own individual creative visions as well as to work together as a group to produce a unique dramatic performance.

準備学習 Preparation for class is required. To understand the contents of and participate fully in this course, students must do the assigned reading and writing before class and prepare for discussions and performance presentations each week. Homework must be completed before class.

成績評価方法・基準 40% Class work
30% Group Performance Presentations (10% written summary)
30% Reflection and Response Papers (details to be provided)
