科目名	Studies in Court Interpreting

授業の目的、または到達目標	To gain general knowledge about criminal court procedures, functions of court interpreters, professional ethics and legal terms and to learn basic interpreting/translation skills through training in class. Students are expected to have completed at least one class related to translation or interpreting.
授業の概要	We meet twice a week. Sessions are divided into two: court interpreting theory and interpreting/translation practicing. Students learn criminal trial procedures, professional ethics, technical terms and other aspects of justice system by using the textbook and reference materials. Students learn basic interpreting/translation skills through monolingual and bilingual training. Students are required to visit the Osaka District Court to observe how ‘real’ trials are conducted.
