科目名 Persuasive Argument
担当教員 Sanderson, Robert
授業の目的、または到達目標 To examine the study and practice of persuasive discourse including strategic planning, audience analysis, effective use of language, propaganda, and effective presentation techniques. Students will learn to adapt messages, offer counter arguments and refutations, and become informed critical receivers of persuasive messages.
授業の概要 Learning Objectives are to become more "media literate" by examining, critiquing, and creating various forms of written and visual media. By the end of the course, students will have an increased awareness and healthy skepticism of mass media manipulation techniques and will be able to recognize, identify, and mimic many of these.

授業の形態 We will discuss and debate issues raised by the textbook and other materials, will create similar examples of our own, and will reflect on our impressions and changing perceptions. Students will take turns giving short presentations and leading class discussions pertaining to our text and other materials and will keep an A4-size portfolio of examples and coursework.
