授業の目的、または到達目標 To understand the roles of literacy, texts, and reading in culture.
Learning Goals:
* can read and respond to several genres of English literature
* can discuss in some detail the importance of literacy in modern culture
*can consider the content of personal readings
*can provide summaries and discuss personal readings with others
授業の概要 Students will read widely and gain experience in discussing thematic content, character analysis, cultural context and questions of the social roles of the text. They will write two reflection papers, the drafts of the research paper, and the final research paper. They prepare an individual/group research presentation for the end of the semester. The focus of the discussions will be on how reading and literacy changes our lives and the lives of people in our society.
