授業の目的、または到達目標 To explore language and its intersections with culture in modern society and equip students with awareness of the role language plays in social, cultural and political interactions. Students will explore how language and culture are linked and explore language as it relates to issues such as ideology, identity, race, gender, power, and ethnicity.


Learning goals:

Can understand how cultural beliefs and language are related
Can explain the concept of the cultural iceberg and how it relates to other cultures
Can give a presentation on how culture and language are related
Can write about weekly learning
Can write about a topic on culture and language using APA style.
Can understand ourselves better as individuals and group members
授業の概要 To understand how culture and language are linked. This course will examine different situations and how culture and language interact. We will use this knowledge as we carry out a variety of projects based on the learning through the readings.

授業の形態 There will be reading, writing, reflections on readings and presentations. You will need to read for every class and think about the readings.
