授業の目的、または到達目標 Students will work on major categories of speech acts and learn about register expected in ordinary spoken English. Students can produce appropriate spoken (and in a few cases, written) English utterances for specific contexts.
Students can choose among several optional ways of expressing register and function in spoken English.
授業の概要 To engage in practical simulated communicationsituations in order to practice a variety of daily speech acts and registers, such as giving compliments, asking and giving advice, making invitations, etc.

授業の形態 Students are expected to participate actively in class. They must prepare for classes by writing scripts and completing class worksheets. There will be speaking checks and role plays in place of written quizzes.
