授業の目的、または到達目標 To increase understandings of culture and how cultural differences and cultural universals influence our lives
Learning Goals:
* can develop understanding of how culture shapes personal views
* can discuss Japanese culture
* can understand basic presentation styles
* can understand how to write a research essay in English
授業の概要 This course will explore essential questions such as "How does culture shape the way I see myself, others, and the world?" "Why doesn't everyone see things the way I do?" and "How can I learn to see things from another culture's point of view?" By the end of the course, students will have an understanding of cultural differences and cultural universals and the process of cultural change.

準備学習 Preparation for class is required. To understand the contents of this course, students must prepare each week. Readings and homework must be completed before class. Through lectures, discussions, readings, videos, research papers, and presentations, students will come to understand culture and develop a global perspective.

成績評価方法・基準 Evaluation is divided into three areas:
Class work & quizzes--50%
Final Presentation--10%
Research paper--40%
Includes outlines, preliminary drafts (as required by the instructor),
or other writing & research required to complete the final paper (20%) and final paper (20%)
