授業の目的、または到達目標 Students * can examine and understand current political issues.
* can distinguish realms of world, national, regional, and local government.
* can analyze issues of taxation, budgets, economic policies, education, welfare, and health care.
* can evaluate powers of government in law, police, and the military.
* can understand elections and political parties.
* can compare and contrast political systems and political leaders.
* can report their findings through discussion, presentations, and research papers.
授業の概要 This course will examine current and recurring political issues. We will study some of the political news both in Japan and other countries. While furthering our understanding of current political news, we will also seek to increase our awareness of the thinking and principles related to government and politics that are behind what is currently happening. Students are expected to deepen their sense of political responsibility and broaden their vision of what is possible through political change by their study in this course.
