To improve students’ understanding of the social world and increase their motivation and ability to study social phenomena in a scientific manner. Learning Goals: *Can compare, contrast, and apply various sociological theories *Can identify and describe the components of culture *Can explain the influence of culture on individuals *Can explain the processes of institutional and cultural change *Can explain the processes of socialization and the social construction of self *Can identify common patterns of social inequality *Can identify the causes and effects of social inequality *Can evaluate individual, group, and societal responses to inequality |
| 授業の概要 |
This course will provide an overview of the study of sociology. The course is organized into four principal domains: 1) Sociological Perspectives & Methods of Inquiry, 2) Social Structure, 3) Social Relationships, and 4) Social Inequality. |
